Passions and Pathwayssafetysystems
The Passions and Pathways project is a unique partnership between the Goldfields Local Learning and Employment Network (GLLEN), a few Bendigo Primary Schools, the Economic Development Unit from the City of Greater Bendigo, the Bendigo Manufacturing Group, and a number of manufacturing industries and other business sectors.
The aim of the program is to give the Grade 6 students the opportunity to explore what a career is and the associated skills, knowledge and attitudes required to sustain a career.
Last week we visited 3 primary schools with the purpose to provide students with skills and knowledge that could be utilised later in life as they enter the workforce. Our topic was OHS & workplace safety. Showing them how to read and interpret the hazards signs, what they mean, where they would be in the workplace
The grade 6 children seemed really engaged, asked lots of questions about the types of careers available and how the process of finding a job works.
